The team’s current market position is focussed on government and linear infrastructure development projects. Previous success in this sector has given them the weight to secure a number of high-profile projects which are running into late next year.

With a number of their sites receiving domestic and internationally recognised awards and an Environment Manager who has recently received ministerial accolades for his achievements in the environment field, you know you won’t be hampered with ruthless, cost-cutting driven KPIs which compromise the quality of your work. Even at the level of Principal Environmental Consultant you can still expect to have support functions around you, in the form of seasoned experts with their names chalked up against a multitude of locally and internationally significant projects working to Commonwealth, World Bank & EU standards.

Technical Lead for about 20 people; you will be given relatively free reign from the Manager who is more involved in corporate development. Lead by example by rolling up your sleeves and getting involved in the projects, while still being able to delegate duties out to junior staff well. More of a coordinator; you pull everything together for the team, do the client negotiations and project costings, meet with regulators, build the project teams and then manage projects right through to delivery. You have been in consulting long enough to know what is needed to secure new projects and have a solid reputation in the QLD market to leverage off existing clients and massage them through the process. As a good decision-maker; you will hold key positions on bid teams and bring teams together for the tendering process. Delegate documentation chapters out to the specialist staff, monitor their progress and then review and polish final reports before they are handed over to clients. A lateral thinker who is quick on their toes, you will need to be a good communicator and relate well to people.

There is a demand for projects already in the office so you are walking into a secured pipeline. Essentially, the main purpose of the role is to build on this base of projects while developing a specialist EIA and Environmental Approvals team under you.

As such, experience in strategic management, project management and a track record of some notable projects in Brisbane will put you ahead of the pack for this role.

The key to this role is to:

• Co-ordinate a team of specialist senior staff,
• Maintain and 'polish' the loyal client base,

You would need to be comfortable in a senior management role, having been responsible for permanent teams of over 20 staff (including budgeting, performance review, utilisation rates etc.).

With access to some of Asia Pacific’s largest Environmental projects in the lucrative O&G and Mining sectors and involvement in the company’s Partnership Development Scheme, you be have a clear succession plan to build your profile in Brisbane and internationally.

Primarily you will be responsible for project directing large-scale technical studies and programs for the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments and environmental approvals of proposed mine sites and Oil & Gas projects.

Managing client expectations is an integral part of this role. You'll be involved in:

• Project co-ordination and management 
• Management of technical and professional staff and sub-consultants 
• Design, review and reporting of environmental investigations for impact assessments 
• Development of environmental management plans and monitoring programs 
• Environmental legislation interpretation and obtaining regulatory project approvals 
• Community consultation, industry and government liaison 
• Environmental compliance, environmental management systems (ISO14001) and environmental due diligence audits 
• Supervision of professional staff and mentoring junior staff 
• Marketing and the development of marketing plans.
